HelpHow to use this website

This website has been built to allow you to find places to stay, places to visit, things to do, places to eat, and things to buy within the Tamar Valley, as quickly and as easily as possible. Search results are displayed in alphabetical order.

When making contact with any of the businesses listed here we would appreciate your mentioning where you found them.

The search form has been designed for use with most browsers, but will offer a richer experience if you have Flash installed, and Javascript enabled.
Click here to learn how to enable javascript in your browser.

Broad Search
Selecting a business type from the top navigation will display all businesses located throught the whole of the valley. This offers the broadest search, and might be the best place to start if you are unfamiliar with the region.

Quick Search
The Quick Search includes a map which divides the Tamar Valley into smaller areas. Some of the areas on the map are much smaller than others. This is because they have a higher concentration of businesses located within them.

How you select an area to search in depends on whether your browser has Javascript enabled.

If it does, hovering over the areas will display a small box listing the principal town or village, along with a number of smaller villages and hamlets to be found within it. Simply click an area so that it remains highlighted.

If javascript is not enabled in your browser you will see a static map with the principal town or village identified in each area, and you will be able to select an area from a dropdown box.

Advanced Search
After one of the above initial searches is carried out you will be able to further refine the results by selecting from a series of filters, where appropriate, and by entering a key word or phrase.

The keyword box can be used to search for a facility, or subject, that is important to you, that isn't listed in the filters. It can also be used to search for place names and even postcodes.

Please note that words of less than four characters will be ignored, in order to filter out common words that would produce too many results.

See Also
Whenever you search for one type of business, you will be presented with a randomly selected business from each of the other three types, as examples of what else is on offer throughout the Tamar Valley.

If you are searching within a particular area then these random selections are taken from that same area. If we cannot find one of the other business types in that area, or no area has been defined, then a business is selected at random from the whole of the valley.

We do this to help you plan your stay, and to show that you do not need to drive for miles to find something that might be of interest to you. There is a wide variety of interesting things to do and see, places to eat, and wondeful places to stay, and we hope that this facility will help you find them.

My Favourites
When viewing a business' full details you will be able to save it to a list of your favourites by clicking the 'Add to my Favourites' button. You will need cookies enabled on your browser to do this.

Your list can be accessed at any point throughout the site by clicking 'My Favourites' on the top navigation. You can delete a business from this list by clicking 'Remove'. Your list will be saved by your browser for 28 days.

Problems ?
We have tried to make the search facility as intuitive and simple to use as we can, while still giving the facility to fine tune results where necessary. If you have any problems while using the site, or have any suggestions for how it might be improved, please feel free to contact us.
