Buckland Abbey (The National Trust)

Buckland Abbey (The National Trust)

Yelverton, Devon

A thirteen century Cistercian monastry converted into a Tudor house that became the home of Sir Francis Drake.

The stories of this remarkable building and its famous owners unfolds through exhibitons and beautiful period rooms. Exciting new Drake displays opened in 2003 - video, ship recreations and interactive terminals. Plus Drake memorabilia on display including his famous Drum.

A beautiful new Elizabethan Garden has been created which complements the interesting herb garden beside the great barn.

The estate offers miles of way-marked walks. Presented in association with the city of Plymouth Museum.
