Brook Cottage
Yelverton, Devon
Brook Cottage dates back to the nineteenth century when it was an inn and lodging house for copper miners. Still retaining some of the original features, it has recently been renovated to a high standard and accommodates up to four people. There is a modern and well equipped kitchen/dining area and two spacious bedrooms. In the lounge you can settle down in front of a cosy open wood fire. The cottage has full gas and electric central heating, washing machine, TV and DVD,and off road parking for two cars. A cot and high chair are available if you need them. As its name suggests the brook runs down the side of the house and through the attractive garden which visitors are invited to share with the owners - who live in what was a farmhouse at the rear of the cottage. Buckland Monachorum itself is a vibrant community and has an excellent pub (two minutes away)offering good food and company. The stannary market town of Tavistock is only a short distance away. Footpaths lead from the village up to the acclaimed Garden House (featured on television and in the press) or down to the River Tavy. Buckland Abbey and Cotehele House, both National Trust, are easily accessible. Dartmoor itself provides wonderful walking country and stunning scenery with its rivers, tors and pools.
